Kartell was founded in 1949 by Giulio Castelli, a chemical engineer who started business by producing plastic products such as car accessories. His challenge: to "introduce plastic into the home." Kartell adopted a completely unique and innovative approach from the very beginning to engineer its produces based on technological research and design. By entering the home design field Kartell has redefined the shapes and functions of plastic into iconic forms coveted by designers and artists worldwide.
